Quad experiences

Merzouga quad tours for every rider

Our quads are automatic, so you only need a thumb for the throttle and two hands for the brakes. A short ride is a fun introduction; a longer one takes you deep into Erg Chebbi, where the dunes rise to around 150 metres and the silence is total. Every Merzouga quad tour is private for your group and led by a local guide.

Buggy experiences

Merzouga buggy tours: side by side in the dunes

Prefer a steering wheel and a seat belt? A dune buggy drives much like a car, seats you next to your partner or friend and handles the sand with ease. It is a great choice for couples, for a parent with a child passenger, or for anyone who would rather not ride a quad.

Sunrise & sunset

Ride at the best light of the day

The dunes of Erg Chebbi change colour all day, but the first and last hours are magical: soft gold at sunrise, deep orange and red at sunset. Our sunrise and sunset rides are timed to the real sun, which moves by more than two hours across the year.

Today in Merzouga the sun rises at about 06:17 and sets at about 17:47. We confirm your exact meeting time when you book.

Quad + desert night

Turn your ride into a night in the Sahara

Ride a quad into the dunes in the late afternoon, watch the sunset and spend the night in a desert camp. Add a camel trek for the complete Merzouga experience. Every package page shows a clear timeline, so you know exactly when you ride, when you switch to the camel and where you sleep.

Why Merzouga Quad

A local team that knows these dunes

We are based in Merzouga village, at the foot of Erg Chebbi. That means short transfers, guides who read the sand and the weather every day, and direct answers when you message us.

Local guides

Your guide grew up around the dunes and rides with you the whole time, choosing the route according to the wind, the light and your confidence.

Your group only

Rides are private for your own group, so the pace is yours. Nervous first-timers and confident riders both get the ride they want.

Transparent prices

Every price says clearly whether it is per quad, per buggy or per person. No hidden extras and no payment needed to request a booking.

Safety briefing

Every ride starts with helmets, a clear explanation of the controls and a practice on flat sand before entering the dunes.

Every duration

From one hour to a full day, plus sunrise, sunset and overnight packages — so the ride fits your plans, not the other way round.

Direct on WhatsApp

You talk to the people who will actually guide you. Ask anything before you book; we would rather answer now than surprise you later.

Where we ride

Erg Chebbi: Morocco’s great sand sea

Erg Chebbi is a field of tall orange dunes rising out of the flat stony desert of south-east Morocco, near the villages of Merzouga and Hassilabied. It stretches for more than 20 kilometres from north to south, and its highest dunes reach around 150 metres.

Short rides explore the western edge of the dunes near Merzouga village. Longer Merzouga quad tours go deeper into the sand sea and out into the wide desert around it.

FAQ

Quick answers before you book

How much does a quad tour in Merzouga cost?

It depends on the duration and the vehicle. Quad prices are per quad and buggy prices are per buggy; overnight packages are per person. See our prices page for the full list.

Do I need experience to ride a quad in Merzouga?

No. Our quads are automatic and every ride starts with a briefing and a short practice. Your guide adapts the route and speed to the least experienced rider.

Is the price per person or per vehicle?

Quad and buggy rides are priced per vehicle. If two people share one quad or buggy, they share one price. Packages with a night in the desert are priced per person.

Where do we meet?

At our base in Merzouga village, on the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes, or we pick you up from your hotel or camp in the Merzouga area. See meeting point & pickup.

Which is better: sunrise or sunset?

Sunrise is cooler and quieter, with clean sand. Sunset has warmer colours and a later start. Both are beautiful — read our sunrise vs sunset guide.
